Suggested Itineraries - Water Bugs

Randy the Butterfly - Suggested ItinerariesWaterbugs Itinerary
Okay, so as a butterfly, I can't say I've spent much time in the water. I have, however, had a blast by watching people get wet. And, with their choice of the Gulf of Mexico, rivers, streams, and lakes, they certainly understand the saying, "My fingers are pruned up."

Let's keep it simple, instead of trying to explore the beaches to rivers of Santa Rosa County in one day, let's divide it up and explore our natural waterways one day at a time - times three that is.

For starters, I'd love to fly above and catch a glimpse of your smile as you feel the warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico. Oh, and the sand. Even I am guilty of landing there because I crave the feeling of that sugar-white stuff. Wade. Crash into the waves. Snorkel the emerald waters. Rent a kayak from the Eco-Beach Store on Navarre Beach. Find your own special spot along the coast of the Gulf Islands National Seashore. With 12 miles of unspoiled coastline, you will understand why people come back time and time again. Of course, I like to pretend it's to see me.

Day two: I recommend you step things up a notch. Head north and discover why Milton has been dubbed "The Canoe Capital of Florida." You might want to begin your day at Adventures Unlimited, set amidst the majestic forest and best known for its first-rate canoeing, kayaking, and tubing excursions along the Blackwater River and Juniper and Coldwater Creeks. You can spend a few hours or the entire day underneath not only the sun but also a canopy of beautiful hanging trees. Be sure to take along a picnic to enjoy on one of the many white sand bars you'll encounter. For more information about Adventures Unlimited in Milton, call 850.

Okay, water bugs (hey, if you're a bug, maybe we're related)... if you are up for one more days of doing what you love most, then you should check out Bear Lake Recreation Area. I fly over this lake when I need to reflect because it's so clear, you'd swear it's a reflection pool. It's a great place to pick up a pole and fish or enjoy the lake by boat.
